In the posthumously published, semi-autobiographical novel Nudie Cuties, author Seamus McMahon describes the adventures and pitfalls of making low-budget exploitation films in the early 1960s. Teamed with director/comic book artist W. Danforth Werd, McMahon worked as scriptwriter and soundman (i.e. carried the boom-microphone) on perhaps a half dozen quickly made “nudie” movies to be shown in strip clubs and “art house” theatres. The films are considered lost, and the names and titles used in the novel are most likely fictitious, but friends and family of both the writer and Werd have confirmed that the duo did indeed make a handful of adult movies in Florida during this period.

Though a number of works by McMahon have, in the past, been optioned for film development, none have actually made it to the screen. The un-produced screenplay adaptation of To Conquer Mankind had previously been posted elsewhere online by permission of the author's estate, though it was later removed by request of the screenplay's writer.

There is a 1987 student film based on the short story "Blue Fuse", directed by Frank Green. It received honorable mention at the 1988 Iowa Film Festival.
